Skincare Review: Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream

The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream

I made some purchases during The Body Shop’s 40% off sale and decided to get this mattifying cream. I read tons of great reviews and was very excited to try this out. I have the other Seaweed Mattifying lotion but that one has SPF in it so I didn’t find it to be mattifying at all. I figured that because this contains no SPF, I would have better results in terms of oil control.

The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream is “An easily absorbed, non-clogging, oil-free, hydrating moisture cream. Leaves the skin feeling fresh, clean, soft and supple with a shine-free, matte complexion.”

This comes in the same type of container as the Vitamin E Moisture Cream. It is small, yet a little bit of product goes a long way. I absolutely love the Seaweed products’ fragrance. The products always smell so clean and fresh! The texture of this cream is very light and not heavy at all. This feels pretty much exactly like the Vitamin E Moisture Cream but a bit less oily. Creams tend to feel thick and heavy, but this product isn’t like that at all. This sinks into the skin quickly and feels very moisturizing. I found my face to look brighter after I applied it, but it didn’t look shiny nor oily. My makeup applied smoothly over top and left my skin feeling very soft.

However, this didn’t help much with oil control. I found that it did keep my face matte a bit longer than the Seaweed Mattifying Moisture Lotion with SPF, but I still needed a touch up after about 3 to 4 hours. I think the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion does a better job at keeping my face matte for a longer period of time, but it isn’t as moisturizing as this day cream. I like using this on the areas of my skin that get dry patches such as around my chin and a bit on my cheeks. This cream would work better on those with combination skin, but those with very oily skin (like myself) will find the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion to work a lot better.
