Primers, primers, and more primers. It seems like every few weeks, different brands are coming out with new primers targeted towards reducing pore size, minimizing wrinkles, and controlling oil. NARS recently came out with the Instant Line and Pore Perfector which is supposed to “prep skin in a single stroke, creating the ideal canvas for makeup application.” I decided to try this bad boy out and see if it can truly reduce my pores.
NARS Instant Line and Pore Perfector is said to be “A primer that reduces the appearance of fine lines and large pores for smooth, seamless skin. This artist essential helps to smooth the appearance of fine lines and reduce large pores to create an even surface for makeup application.”
When I first heard about this product, I learned that it’s supposed to be great for oily skin by reducing shine throughout the day. I went to my local Sephora in search of this godly makeup essential and was pretty disappointed in how small it was. It honestly can be easily mistaken for a lip balm. I thought $30 was pretty hefty for such a small stick of primer, but I decided to purchase it anyway.
When I first used the primer, I applied it to areas where I am shiny and have large pores (nose, forehead, chin, and cheeks). This primer does not have any color and applies clear. I rubbed the product into my skin and noticed that it felt very lightweight, like I didn’t have anything on. There was no strong odor which is a plus, but I really didn’t notice any reduction in pore size. My skin felt very smooth, but I didn’t really see any line-filling or pore-reducing action going on. However, my foundation did apply easily over this. I noticed that I did not get as oily as quickly, but I feel like my Becca Ever-Matte primer works better for controlling oil.
Overall, the Instant Line and Pore Perfector worked okay for me. Sure, my makeup looked pretty decent by the end of the day, but there are other primers that can do the same things at a much better cost. At $28 for 0.05 oz, I expected this product to work like magic. I love NARS, but this product left me wanting more.
