One of my all time favorite drugstore makeup products has to be the Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2 in 1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum. Whew! That’s quite the long name. I much prefer using felt/brush tip eyeliners rather than pencil or gel/cream liners because I find them a lot easier and quicker to use. I also haven’t found a gel/cream liner that doesn’t smudge onto my oily eyelids or under my lower lash line causing me to have raccoon eyes within a few hours. However, this eyeliner is pure magic.
Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2 in 1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum – “Lash Boosting complex targets the root of lashes where it is most effective in providing nutrients associated with growing long, thick lashes. Innovative and easy to use eyelining tool delivers effortless definition. High-tech Japanese formula is long-wearing, water-resistant and smudge-resistant.”
Even though I consider both the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner and the Kat Von D Ink Liner to be my holy grail liquid eyeliners, this Physicians Formula liner is extremely great as well. Plus, it is the more affordable option. This eyeliner comes in a smooth, shiny pen-style applicator and looks very appealing. Physicians Formula always has great packaging, which is a reason why this brand is one my favorite drugstore brands (right after NYX, of course). Even though this eyeliner looks like it is felt tip, it is actually a brush tip with thin tapered bristles. The formula of this is inky (just like the Ink Liner) and very black. I got this in the color Ultra Black which is a true jet black. I have accidentally gotten this in the shade Black and I found it to be less pigmented and more of a grey hue so make sure to get Ultra Black for the darkest-looking eyeliner! This dries down very quickly and looks in between matte and shiny. The more it dries, the more matte it becomes, however, I wouldn’t consider this to be an actual matte formula.
I absolutely love this eyeliner! It can create both the thinnest and thickest lines extremely easy, as well as the perfect cat eye. However, if you aren’t creating straight lines (as in lining your upper/lower lash line), I notice that this could start to feather and not look as crisp. I also noticed that after a few times of using this, it starts to not work as easily. The brush tip seems to become “dry,” which confused me when I first purchased this a few years ago. However, I found that if I gently press down on a tissue paper, product will come out and it starts to work again. I probably have to do this at least once or twice when I do my eyeliner, which seems annoying but it is a quick-fix. This eyeliner lasts all day and night with absolutely no smudging, flaking, or fading. With everyday usage, this eyeliner lasts me about 4 months, which is the same length it takes me to finish both the Stila and Kat Von D liners.
I have probably repurchased this eyeliner 6 or 7 times and I can tell you that I have not seen any “lash-boosting” effects. My lashes are still short and sparse, even after years of pretty much everyday use. But even though this doesn’t give you longer or fuller-looking lashes, I still highly recommend trying this out because it truly is an amazing eyeliner!
