Review: NYX Hi Definition Photo Concealer Wand in Yellow

NYX HD Concealer Yellow

As much as I love my MAC Pro Longwear concealer, I found that it was starting to get too liquidy for fast, everyday use. I needed something that I can blend out quickly to cover up my dark circles in the morning so I began using my NYX HD Concealer Wand in the shade Beige. This provides great coverage and is extremely easy to blend out. However, I realized that I also had this same concealer in the shade Yellow that I never used. Yellow is supposed to neutralize the purple-blue shades of undereye darkness so I thought this would be perfect for me.

NYX Hi Definition Photo Concealer Wand – “Little wonder the Concealer Wand is one of NYX’s best-sellers. The concentrated, emollient-rich concealer formula goes on like a dream, is non-comedogenic and creates medium to heavy coverage. Use the lavender for sallow skin, the green to neutralize redness and the yellow for under-eye darkness.”

The packaging is very simple. It comes with a doe-foot applicator, which I love. Some people think having one of these applicators is unhygienic but I never really understood why. I wash my face in the morning so I wouldn’t be getting bacteria on any of my makeup. I think doe-foot applicators are fast and easy to use. When I first used this product, I noticed that the Yellow shade is different in consistency than the Beige shade. Yellow is much more liquidy and sheer than Beige. Beige is very creamy and provides very good coverage, however, Yellow didn’t provide enough coverage for my dark undereye circles.

I found it very strange that both shades had different consistencies because they are the exact same product. I normally love this concealer but the Yellow shade was just terrible. I couldn’t even build up the product because it started to look too cakey. I wouldn’t suggest using the Yellow shade for dark undereye circles. However, the normal skin tone shades are absolutely wonderful. The only con I have with the NYX HD Concealer Wand is that it does crease throughout the day. I found that using a Q-tip to remove excess product in fine lines helps but it doesn’t prevent it completely.
