So I never knew that The Body Shop sold makeup products. I went in there in search for a lip treatment and walked out with this primer (and a whole lotta other stuff) instead. The sales associate informed me that this is a dupe for the Smashbox Photo Finish primer but it is made with synthetic silk. I am always open to trying out products that will help control my oily skin.
The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It is supposed to be “for normal and oily skins which creates a smooth base for foundation. It has been designed to deter shine and make make-up last longer. With soothing chamomile and aloe vera extracts. Suitable for normal to oily skin types. Banishes shine. Helps make-up stay in place.”
This comes in a small, transparent tube which is very nice and simple. I like that it’s clear so you can see how much product you have left. It comes with 25 ml or 0.84 ounces of product for $15, which is not bad. The texture is a gel-like consistency and feels exactly like my Lorac POREfection Mattifying Face Primer. It feels like your typical silicone-based primer. This made my face feel extremely soft and smooth, and made it easy to apply my foundation on top. This primer did not cling to or emphasize any of my dry patches.
Even though this made my foundation last longer throughout the day, this did not really help to control shine. My nose and forehead looked even shinier than usual, which I thought was a bit odd. However, this primer did not break me out so it would be good for those with normal or sensitive skin. I would not recommend this primer to those with very oily skin.
