I decided to exchange my Revlon ColorStay Finishing Powder for this powder by Neutrogena. It comes in one universal shade: Invisible 10. I prefer using colorless setting powders over a matching powder to my foundation color because I feel like that prevents my makeup from caking up.
Neutrogena Shine Control Powder – “Skin stays shine-free and fresh looking all day. Blends invisibly into skin for a flawless look that’s never overdone. Perfect for on-the-go touch ups. Won’t over dry skin or clog pores. Instantly Eliminates Shine for a Fresh Look That Lasts for 8 Hours, Layers Invisibly Over Makeup, Matte Finish, Rice Protein Complex”
The packing of this powder is very sturdy and sleek. It comes with a full-size compact mirror (unlike ColorStay’s half-moon mirror) and a puff applicator. I never use the puff applicators that come with compact powders because they tend to pick up too much product. Instead, I use a big, fluffy powder brush or a flat-top powder brush. I noticed that when I swatched this product the texture seemed a bit rough and gritty. However, once I used it on my face, it went on smoothly and blended easily. It did not leave any white cast to my face, which is what I’m always worried about when using translucent powders.
This powder did mattify without making me look dry or cakey, but it was not that great at controlling oil. After about 4 hours, my nose and forehead started to look very shiny. However, touching up with this was very easy and did not cause my foundation to cake up. I didn’t notice this powder clinging on to any dry patches or emphasizing any pores or fine lines. I would recommend this powder to those with combination to oily skin, but those with very oily skin (like me) will need a touch up after about 4 to 5 hours.
