Review: Buxom Show Some Skin Weightless Foundation

Buxom Foundation

Now that it’s getting warmer, it’s time to put away those full coverage foundations and bring out the tinted moisturizers and lightweight foundations! I like to use lightweight foundations during the spring and summer because I do get very oily, and the more makeup I put on my face the more likely it tends to melt off. I decided to go to Sephora and pick up this new light coverage foundation from Buxom.

Buxom Show Some Skin Weightless Foundation is said to be “A featherweight foundation with light to medium coverage and SPF 30 protection. Weightless and skin-nourishing, this foundation is clinically proven to increase hydration and brighten and smooth skin while softening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Formulated with vitamin C, tamarind seed, and marine algae extracts, its versatile coverage lasts for up to eight hours. Water encapsulation technology enables a refreshingly soft finish.”

The packaging is your typical squeeze-tube bottle, which isn’t as great as having a pump. It comes with 1.5 ounces of product which is very generous compared to the usual 1 ounce bottles of foundations. I picked this up in the color “Dim The Light” which is supposed to be a warm yellow for light skin tones. This matched me perfectly! This does have SPF 30 in it, and I was a bit hesitant to purchase it because anything with SPF usually makes me extremely oily, which is what I am absolutely trying to avoid. However, I didn’t notice any strong sunscreen odor.

The consistency of this foundation is very watery. This was easy to apply with both my Stila Blending Sponge and Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I think a makeup brush would be better to apply this with because it is very lightweight and watery, so using a sponge will soak up a lot of the product. Now, this foundation doesn’t really cover much. I would say this is more of a sheer foundation rather than lightweight and nowhere near medium coverage. This doesn’t even come close to covering any dark spots, pimples, dark circles, or redness. I had to use a lot more concealer when using this foundation, but I really didn’t mind. This foundation is buildable without looking cakey, but I didn’t notice anymore coverage when applying another layer.

I felt like wearing this foundation actually felt like just my skin, which I think would be perfect for those hot, summer days. It didn’t feel like I was wearing anything on my face and my face did look brighter with this on. However, this didn’t really do much for my oily skin. This lasted on me for about 2 to 3 hours before I noticed some shine peaking through. This foundation is perfect for those with already great skin, maybe just wanting to even out your skin tone or cover a bit of blotchiness. I think those with dry to normal skin would enjoy this foundation.
