Review: Stila Lip Glaze

Stila Color Me Glossy

As part of Stila’s Holiday collection, this Color Me Glossy Lip Glaze set was put out, which includes 9 lip glazes. Six out of the nine lip glazes are limited edition and the other three colors can be purchased at Sephora. I’m not really a big fan of lip glosses because they tend to be very sticky and fade quickly. However, I’ve heard good things about Stila lip glosses so I decided to give this a go.

Stila Lip Glaze is said to be “An ultra high-shine lip gloss in a nifty click pen. Stila’s ever-popular lip glaze is back in action with larger pens (twice the size of the original) guaranteed to keep your lips glossier, longer. The gloss gives lips a punch of color and adds a delicious scent. Whatever sweet flavor you are in the mood for, it is sure to be found in this collection of classic shades.”

The applicator of these lip glazes make them very easy to use, especially for touch-ups throughout the day. It is a click-type brush pen applicator, and at first it takes quite a few clicks to get any product out but eventually it starts to come out easily. The colors are all very beautiful and smell very sweet and fruity. However, these are lip glosses so they are very sticky and feel a bit heavy on the lips. The formula is also very thick which makes it practically impossible for these lip glosses to set.

The lip glazes did not last very long on my lips at all, maybe about 3 hours for the lighter colors and 4 hours for the darker ones, and that’s without eating. Once you eat or drink anything, these fade even quicker which is very annoying. However, once the gloss starts to fade, the darker colors do leave a bit of a stain on the lips which is nice. The darker, more vibrant colors did show up more opaque than the lighter colors as well. I think these would work best on top of lipsticks for a more shiny, fuller-lip effect.

I wouldn’t spend $22 for one of these Lip Glazes, which is the price at Sephora, but at Ulta you can create your own trio for $15 or spend $8 a piece which is a lot better than Sephora’s deal. None of the colors I swatched are being sold at Ulta, but the colors are true to what the tubes of lip glosses show. The Color Me Glossy Lip Glaze set is still being sold on Stila’s website, which is the best deal at $28 for 9 lip glazes.
