Review: Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara

I received a sample of Smashbox’s Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black with a recent order I placed. Mini mascaras are probably my favorite types of samples. I’ve heard of this mascara but I’m always a bit hesitant to purchase high-end mascaras just because they are so expensive and only last 3 to 4 months. I usually only stick to drugstore mascaras because I feel like it’s a better deal. However, I’m always on the look out for the perfect mascara so I was very excited to try this out.

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara – “Inspired by the on-set technique of layering a lengthening fiber mascara over a volumizing formula, Smashbox’s new studio-tested mascara exposes your longest, fullest lashes. No clumps, no flakes. Just maximum-impact, scene-stealing lashes.”

The wand of this mascara is very large yet easy to use. It looks like your typical fiber bristle mascara wand. It is more of a dry formula, which led me to believe that this would flake all over my eyes and cheeks. However, after a full day’s wear, there were no flakes or smudges. I usually end up with a bit of smudging under my bottom lashes but this made my under eye makeup stay perfectly intact. I also felt like this mascara was able to coat those pesky inner corner lashes easily. Large mascara wands usually make it difficult to coat every lash (both top and bottom) but I felt like this performed well in that area.

Now, I really didn’t like how my top lashes looked with this mascara. It did lengthen a bit but I saw no fullness or any volumizing at all. It also left little clumps of mascara at the tips of my eye lashes. Even though this mascara lasted all day, I wouldn’t recommend purchasing it. I will probably only use this for my bottom lashes but I think other drugstore mascaras perform substantially better, especially Rimmel Scandal Eyes Lycra Flex Mascara.
